If you develop a GUI application, the first thing you have to show is a screenshot.

I guess slop machines can't do that, or are prevented by auto mode.

oof it has nothing to do with Picasa which was a library manager and looked like this https://static.filehorse.com/screenshots/photo-and-design/pi...

This is just a vibe coded image viewer, nothing else https://i.imgur.com/uBxUj8d.jpeg

I said Picasa Photo Viewer, wasted your energy for nothing.

FWIW, the Picasa photo viewer was so nice that I installed an old version of Picasa on Linux via WINE just for the image viewer. It'll be great to have a native version.

Not native, but Licasa is opening a JPEG 16MP/4MB image in 400ms. Trying best to make it feel the same as the old one, fast, opens anything you throw at it.

So it's just GPT's vague memories of Picasa? Vibe coders have no shame.

Did I not tell you to Womp womp in the corner already?

Ah, that's sad. I miss the speed and intuitive UI/UX of the old Picasa. No image viewer has ever been able to handle massive photo libraries as well for me :(

IKRR! Since 6 years I have been suffering in linux since 6 years trying to open images quickly.

Trying best to make it feel the same.

Licasa currently opens a JPEG 16MP/4MB image in 400ms.

I've been using it ever since on my windows machines because I've never found anything even coming close to it. I don't need anything feature rich with a 5 second startup time. I need something that's 500ms away.

It's not a bloaty Mc Bloater, Base aim is fast, responsive, and should open any image you throw at it, thats it.

Frankly I just want IrfanView ported. This is 80% wasted screen space.

What are you complaining about, we have XV, which is about as humanly close to perfection as you can get in application design.

I'm pretty sure you can close the editor on the left and the settings on the right.

But Irfanview for Linux would be pretty sweet!

      • haunter 1 hour ago
        You can close both menus

Some screenshots would have been nice -- I assume this looks like Picasa did, but it'd be nice to be able to see it.

That said, I've been enjoying this trend of reviving software killed before its time! Someone recently did the same for Apple Aperture (RIP):
